We are delighted that you may be considering The Gatehouse as the venue to host your wedding reception. It’s the perfect choice for couples wanting to host a stylish and intimate wedding in exceptional surroundings.
This spectacular building is the former gatehouse to one of Britain’s most romantic abbeys, and we are pleased to offer the opportunity to entertain your wedding party in the rustic surroundings of a medieval 12th century landmark. With its grand Cistercian arches and Gothic style windows, it provides a unique backdrop for one of the most important and happiest days of your life.
The venue is versatile and can be adapted to cater for your individual wedding plans. The main room of the Gatehouse can comfortably sit 50 guests for a formal wedding breakfast. In addition, there are 2 annex rooms each accommodating 20 people respectively. Previous wedding parties have utilised these spaces to seat additional guests, as dance / party areas, or even to give children their own eating and party space! Should you prefer a more informal dining arrangement, a hot or cold fork buffet can be served from one of the annex rooms. In addition, there is a courtyard to the rear accommodating up to 80 -just perfect for a summer BBQ or private outdoor space for your wedding party.
Arrival drinks and canapés can be served on the south facing courtyard, with the spectacular view of the Kirkstall Abbey ruins. As part of your booking at The Gatehouse you can also use the romantic backdrop of the Abbey ruins to take your wedding photographs.
